Gift vs title deed amendment — what's the difference?

Adding a spouse, child or parent to a Dubai property is a gift transfer, not a title-deed amendment. It changes who owns the property, so it runs the transfer route — with a DLD valuation and gift-registration fees — not a simple owner-data correction.

FAQ

Plain answers

Is adding my wife to the title deed an amendment?

No — it changes who owns the property, so it’s a gift transfer, not a title-deed amendment. It runs the transfer route with a DLD valuation and gift-registration fees.

A DLD valuation is required (0.125% of the valuation, minimum AED 2,000) plus gift-registration fees; figures are DLD-published and confirmed at execution.

First-degree only — parents, children and spouses. Siblings and step-relations don’t qualify for the gift route.
